| 1. Outlets . Check for outlets that have loose-fitting or cracked plugs which can overheat and lead to causing a fire. Replace missing, cracked or broken wall plates. Make sure there are safety covers on all unused outlets to protect small children. |

2 Cords. Make sure cords are in good condition and are not frayed or cracked. Make sure they are placed out of traffic areas and out reach of children. Cords should never be nailed or stapled to the wall, baseborad or to another object. Do not place cords under carpets or rugs or rest furniture on them.

| 3. Extension Cords/Power outlets. A Check to see that cords are overloaded. Additionally, extenstion cords should only be used on a temporary basis; they are not intended as a permanent house wiring. Make sure that extension cords have safety closures to help prevent young children from electrical shock hazards and mouth burn injuries. |

.4. Plugs. Make sure your plugs fit your outlets. NEVER remove the ground pin (the third prong) to make a three-prong fit into a two-conductor outlet; this could lead to an electrical shock. NEVER force a plug into an outlet if it will not fit easily. Plugs should fit securely into an outlet. Avoid overloading outlets withh too many applicances. |
