We charge by the job Not by the hour
Avoid ‘Sticker Shock' by Knowing How Much the Job Will Cost in Advance
You should NEVER have to pay the price for slow or inefficient service. But that's exactly what tends to happen when you pay service technicians by the hour instead of by the job. Because we charge by the job, you never pay for slow or lazy technicians or for run-around time for parts and other materials, and because it's in our best interests to work as efficiently as possible, we stock our trucks with every imaginable tool and part, and train our technicians to do the job efficiently and correctly the first time around.
For a basic service charge we will perform a 10 Point Main Panel Safety Inspection , and diagnose the problem needing service and conclude what repairs are necessary and how much the repairs will cost. With your authorization, our technician will perform the necessary repairs; otherwise you will only owe the initial service charge.
This pricing system gives you the benefit of having a proficient technician who will do the job right the first time. This pricing system is in contrast to time and material pricing systems where you suffer and the company is rewarded for having inexperienced or slow technicians.
Word to the wise, check references. I am always amazed when I get a call to repair a job. Its either the job looks like the amateur hour or the guy took the money and ran.The cost of going in business with a Craigslist ad invites the unqualified. In my years as a construction manager I can't count how many people that we ran off for being incompetent . Yet they all claimed to be the best. Talk is cheap!
Do they show up looking professional? Do they own professional tools? Do they want a great deal of money down. Are they licensed to do the electrical, plumbing etc..Is the price way below reality? Ask to see a state electric or plumbing card (plumbers and electricians have to carry them) Ask these questions! Real tradesman do not mind.
- Never not pay upfront for labor (ask Tom Martino on this).
- Make the check out to the material vender if they want money down.
- Determine the value of progress payments before the job starts.
- Always hold back at the end of the job to make sure it gets finished.
- Check more than one reference!!!
- Pull a permit if required (unlicensed contractors can't pull one).
- Do they have a current workers comp policy? (you could be sued if someone gets hurt).
- Check if they have esisting leins from suppliers (you may be liable).
- Check the county criminal and civil court records.
- Do they have a liability policy if they damage you or your neighbors home?
Watch out for electrician, handymen, doors repairs, plumber, roofer, carpenter, drywall, basement men. Times are very tight right now, everyone is feeling it. But if you are planning a, remodel/basement finish/new construction job, you owe it to yourself to find quality contractors no matter what the economic conditions are.
THESE HARD TIMES ARE NOT GOING TO LAST FOREVER, THE JOB YOU ARE PLANNING IS!!!!!! I see all these adds with people saying how cheap they are, cheap is good when you are shopping for a TV or some new shoes. But not when you are dealing with construction. CHEAP LEADS TO SHORT CUTS!!! SHORT CUTS LEAD TO FIRES!!! With all that said, I want to offer my services to those of you looking for a quality and safety oriented Electrician. I am a one man crew and am competitively priced. I do like to bid jobs in person, so all estimates are free, Email me ANYTIME and I will respond immediately. I have many many references that I am more then willing to share with you, just ask. I would love to work with you on whatever project you have big or small. I am clean cut, young, and very reliable.
